Rail crash widow's anger over appeal
![]() Gary Hart is planning a further appeal
A woman whose husband was killed in the Selby rail crash has appealed to the man convicted of causing it to stop fighting his conviction.
Gary Hart, 37, from Strubby, near Louth, was jailed for five years for causing ten deaths by dangerous driving. His Land Rover ploughed onto the East Coast Main Line at Great Heck two years ago. For the second time Hart is appealing against his conviction. This means the inquests of victims still cannot go ahead until legal proceedings are complete. Margitta Needham, whose husband Barry was killed in the accident, said: "Any wife who has lost her husband due to a violent death that need not have happened would be angry." She added: "Gary Hart made a choice that morning, he intended to get into his car and drive in that state, not knowing the outcome of course, he had a reasonable chance of knowing how dangerous it was."
