![]()
Panorama's investigation into collusion between the British intelligence services and loyalist death squads in Northern Ireland has been nominated for a prestigious Grierson Award.
The two part Licence to Murder programme, which was broadcast in June 2002, has been nominated in the Best Documentary on a Contemporary Issue category. The Grierson Awards - also known as The British Documentary Awards - were established in 1972 to celebrate the best in British film and television documentary. The Panorama programme will be up against nine other films including John Pilger's Palestine is still the issue and BBC Two's Crackhouse documentary. Licence to murder also won the TV documentary award in the 2003 Amnesty International UK Media Awards and was nominated in the 2003 BAFTA awards. The winner will be announced at a ceremony at City Hall in London on Monday, November 17.
