Mancunian mogul Tony Wilson has been one of the most influential figures in UK music over the last 30 years. His annual In The City music conference begins on Friday - a huge showcase of the best unsigned bands in the country and a chance for the music industry to discuss current issues. Among the bands to have been discovered in the conference's 10-year history include Radiohead, Oasis, Suede, The Verve, Catatonia and Elastica. Wilson ran the legendary Factory Records label and the Haçienda nightclub, and was instrumental in the rise of punk and acid house. And his story while at the Haçienda will be told in a new film, 24 Hour Party People, with Wilson played by comedian Steve Coogan. What does he think about the current music scene? Who is going to be the next big thing? What does the future hold for music over the internet? What does he think of Steve Coogan playing him on screen? Tony Wilson joined us on for a live forum and answered a selection of your questions. |
