Home office figures show an overall drop in crime of ten per cent. According to the British Crime Survey, burglary is down by 21 per cent, and car crime has been cut by 15 per cent.

But it is not all good news on the crime front. Offences of robbery are up by 14 per cent, and theft from people is up four per cent.
