Sammy Wilson is the Stormont finance minister

The DUP's Sammy Wilson has been re-elected as MP for East Antrim. Mr Wilson polled 13,993 votes ahead of Rodney McCune, Ulster Conservatives and Unionists - New Force, with 7,223. The Alliance Party's Gerry Lynch received 3,377 votes and Sinn Fein's Oliver McMullan, 2064. Justin McCamphill of the SDLP polled 2,019 votes and the TUV's Samuel Morrison, 1,826. Mr Wilson blamed the media for party leader Peter Robinson's downfall. "As far as the result for Peter is concerned it has to be seen in the context of a barrage against him by the media over the last six to nine months," he said. "At the same time people have to recognise that despite all of those pressures he guided Northern Ireland to the completion of devolution, he has ensured that the Assembly has continued to function and improve its work."
