BLAENAU GWENT
OUT: Dai Davies IN: Nick Smith

Nick Smith regained Blaenau Gwent for the Labour Party with a 29% swing and more than 52% of all votes. He took the seat from independent MP Dai Davies, who was elected in a by-election in 2006 following the death of fellow independent Peter Law, for whom he had previously been campaign manager.
CARDIFF NORTH
OUT: Julie Morgan IN: Jonathan Evans

After 13 years as an MP for the constituency Julie Morgan lost the seat to Conservative candidate Jonathan Evans by the narrow margin of 194 votes. The result was declared after a recount. However, Welsh Secretary Peter Hain has called for an investigation into why a second recount was not conducted.
MONTGOMERYSHIRE
OUT: Lembit Opik IN: Glyn Davies

High-profile Liberal Democrat Lembit Opik lost his seat to Conservative candidate Glyn Davies, with both men admitting the result was a "surprise". Glyn Davies overturned a more than 7,000-strong majority with a 13% swing. Opik had been the MP for Montgomeryshire, a Liberal bastion for more than a century, since 1997.
CEREDIGION
WINNER: Mark Williams LOSER: Penri James

Liberal Democrat Mark Williams strengthened his party's hold on Ceredigion in what was one of Plaid Cymru's key targets in this election. Williams pulled in more than 8,500 more votes than Plaid's candidate Penri James, growing his share of the vote by more than 13.5%. Williams said the result had definitely been influenced by the "Nick Clegg effect".
CARMARTHENSHIRE WEST AND PEMBROKESHIRE SOUTH
OUT: Nick Ainger IN: Simon Hart

Conservative candidate Simon Hart enjoyed a near 7% swing to win the seat from Labour MP Nick Ainger, who had held the seat since 1997, and been an MP (originally for Pembrokeshire) from 1992. Hart won 16,649 votes to Nick Ainger's 13,226.
