The father of Wrexham teenage runaway Rachael Lloyd has refuted reports that she has been "dumped" by the Turkish man she wanted to marry.

The teenager sparked a manhunt earlier in December when she ran away to Turkey to be with the barman, and then called home saying she had married him.

The couple were later traced to the south-eastern city of Gaziantep, and Rachael was returned to north Wales.

Recent newspaper reports had claimed Ocak had put an end to the romance and refused to return Rachael's calls or text messages.

Asked whether there had been contact since the pair were parted earlier this month, Mr Lloyd told BBC News Online: "Not that I know of, she hasn't been in touch with him."

He said Rachael has had her mobile phone taken off her.

The schoolgirl was brought home by her family and she has spent a normal Christmas with her father and family.

But Mr Lloyd said his daughter still yearns to be with Ocak, otherwise known as Steve to Rachael.

"She still wants to be with him," said Mr Lloyd.

Starting school

He said Rachael will settle back to normal life and her future plans only involve a return to the local comprehensive school.

"School is going to be starting in the next couple of weeks," he said.

Mr Lloyd, a charity worker, said his daughter was not looking forward to going back to school and carrying on with her education which includes the start of her GCSEs.

"She's not interested in them," he added.

Rachael and Mehmet Ocak met in May in the holiday spot of Marmaris.

It was reported the pair got engaged when the schoolgirl went back to Turkey on a false passport in October.

When the two were discovered, Ocak was arrested on a charge of statutory rape but Mr Lloyd did not press charges and the case was dropped.
