As Nairobi responded to the devastation caused by the bomb attack on 7 August 1998, correspondents spoke of the grief which gripped the city, but also of a spirit of solidarity which saw people rally round to help the survivors.
The blasts in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam killed 224 people and injured nearly 5,000.
