Vajpayee: 'A limit to India's tolerance'
Vajpayee said "the hour of crisis" had come
Following is a transcript of a speech delivered by Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee on Sunday, warning that India is running out of patience with Pakistan.
Today, we are paying attention to developmental activities even amid grave national crisis. We are concentrating on neglected sections of society and neglected areas of the country. We are formulating programs in such a way that they bring prosperity to the country and everyone gets a share in that prosperity.
The international community should understand that there is a limit to India's tolerance. Click here to read the speech by Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf on 27 May Let us see how far the efforts being made [by the international community for a solution] will take us and whether the continuing acts of terrorism will end or not.
But as our neighbour knows, the entire world is fighting against terrorism with American troops now in Afghanistan, and we want to ask the world: How can, and how long can, we tolerate terrorist activities in our country? Sisters and brothers, we should maintain our unity at this moment of national crisis. We should extend co-operation to the government. We should co-operate with each other. This country's unique nature is that the entire nation becomes one during the hour of crisis.
