Inside the Maze prison Introduction
The Maze has been a jail like no other - a place of political protests and death. While it began life as a symptom of Northern Ireland's Troubles - it became a fundamental part of them and was crucial to the Good Friday Agreement.
For more than a quarter of the century it housed some of the most dangerous men in Europe, those convicted for killings and bombings committed during 30 years of violence. And then as they emerged, many of these same men chose to sit at the negotiating table and talk peace.
