At the tender age of 22, Sarwan has already established his place as one of the West Indies' leading batting hopes.
This is not surprising, considering he became the youngest player in West Indies cricket when he made his debut for Guyana at the age of 15 years and 235 days.
Not the tallest of batsmen, Sarwan is a joy to watch at the crease, showing elegance and intelligence with the bat.
He has proved a solid player in one-day international cricket, averaging more than 50 since his debut against England in 2000.
The stylish right-hander was hero of the hour in the West Indies' first one-day match against India in November with an unbeaten 83.
He also made an undefeated 99 in that series and finally made three figures against Bangladesh three weeks later and is a batsman in form coming into the World Cup.
