Drakes is enjoying something of a renaissance after seven years in the international wilderness.
The 33-year-old first donned a West Indies shirt in 1995 when he played in five one-day internationals against Australia.
Fast forward to 2002 and a strong showing in the ICC Champions Trophy has propelled him into the World Cup squad.
The fast bowler has spent much of his time playing in South Africa, where he was named among the top five players in 2000, but has also had spells with Nottinghamshire, Sussex and Warwickshire.
Having returned to Barbados, he was instrumental in his island's Red Stripe Bowl win in 2002, which along with doubts over Cameron Cuffy's fitness, helped earn him a West Indies recall.
His best figures came recently when got three for 38 against India in November, but his contribution with a bat in the lower order have been far and few between, averaging less than 10.
